A typical Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott production for Gucci’s Spring 2011 campaign, featuring models Karmen Pedaru, Joan Smalls and Hailey Clauson. It’s sharp, sexy and colourful and showcases Gucci’s block colours and great tailoring. I think the positioning of the models in the ensemble shots gives a real sense of movement and energy. One issue for me however is that it has been made to look as though they all have the same skin tone, which is never true and therefore slightly bizarre, unless they were going for a deliberate uniformity but it does make them look as if they are bathed in an unearthly glow.
