Editorial

November 27, 2012

I apologise for the lack of posts in the recent week or so, I have had a very busy week of work and other pesky ‘life’ commitments! The winter edition of T Magazine took Karlie Kloss to Nicaragua to shoot a pretty amazing editorial. Photographed by Ryan McGinley, these shots have a lovely natural ‘innocent abroad’ feel, despite featuring grand sweeps of landscape. The second pose of Karlie in the sea is reminiscent of  Botticelli’s Venus if I know my Italian Renaissance art! My only complaint is that her hand looks huge on the horse’s neck but that’s nit- picking, I’m aware. Also it’s a clever move to pass this off as a fashion shoot when the clothes really take a back step to all those elemental images of rock, sea, fire, flora and fauna. I don’t think you’re buying the clothes in this spread so much as packing your suitcase for a holiday of a lifetime.

Home Sweet Home

September 14, 2012

I’m not going to lie that to go from this view….

to this view…..

has been a bit of a shock to the system. Pounding the hard pavements of London today for Fashion Week has left me in a slight daze but I will do my best to keep you up to date on what I’m going to. With seven shows completed today and eight shows tomorrow expect more of a detailed update on Sunday. I’ve enjoyed the sunshine, the Greek salads and even the ouzo, but honey, it’s good to be home.

Let the Vitamin D refuelling begin

August 30, 2012

I am off for a brief holiday. I plan to let my feet enjoy the freedom of flip flops, soak up some of the sunshine which has been/ sorely lacking here all summer and indulge in lots of sleep before the madness of London Fashion Week begins. Expect plenty of behind the scenes insights, photos of what the fashion crowd are wearing this season and my reviews of the shows. See you then, I can’t wait!

London’s Shining

August 6, 2012

Great Britain had an amazing weekend at the Olympics and I was in Hyde Park to watch some of it. It was lovely and sunny with thousands of people coming out to support their countries including some impressively lary South Africans. If you are in London there are lots of big screen hot spots to watch all the sport – Duke of York’s Square in King’s Road is one – and I would definitely recommend you to go and hang out in Hyde Park: it’s free to get in with loads of screens to watch the different events. After watching through most of the evening I had a romantic walk back through a part of London’s Mayfair that I hadn’t been to before and I used my phone to record some of the serene places there.  Love your city.

Phantom in the Garden

July 13, 2012

With the weather being as appalling as it is in the UK right now even the plants in my garden have come out in horror. Whatever animal has eaten this plant clearly has a taste for early Expressionist art because is this or is this not Munch’s Scream? I haven’t doctored this photo or touched the plant. Is this a crazy freak of animal nature or a caterpillar with really great art skills? As I write this I am off for a couple of day’s sunshine abroad as I can’t take this weather any more and clearly neither can my garden!

To Brighten Monday Morning

June 18, 2012

If you’ve been anywhere near a radio recently you will have heard Carly Rae Jepsen’s Call Me Maybe, so the generous people of Abercombie & Fitch have decided to get some of their buff boys from cities around the world to serenade us with their own special version. My own  London shop on Savile Row is included (although I’ve never been in it) and I’m not sure the gentlemen’s tailors there will have seen anything quite like it before! I love how some of the boys are so into it. Obviously if you’re in the office listen to it on mute but I don’t think that really takes away from the enjoyment of the video……

A Water Wonder

June 6, 2012

After a pretty shocking weekend of weather in London and more rain still to come, I thought I’d post on holidays to come! How about the biggest outdoor pool in the world? Built in Chile at The Crystal Lagoon at San Alfonso del Mar resort, this is 20x olympic size, covers 20 acres and holds 66million gallons of water. It’s insane! I’m not totally sure I like it; it just seems too big and would you really want to be avoiding sailing boats whilst you try to have a peaceful swim? But there’s no denying that looking at all that lovely turquoise water certainly certainly makes me discontented with the urban drizzle.

Snow News

March 26, 2012

I apologise for the radio silence over the last week but I was away skiing in Austria and didn’t have much access to the internet. We had two days of snow and otherwise beautiful weather all week. I have some seriously uncool sunglasses marks!

Team GB Olympic Fun.

February 13, 2012

It’s good to know that some members of my country’s Olympic team are having some fun before the enormous pressure of the London Games this summer.  To LMFAO’s ‘Sexy and I know it’ Tom Daley, our 17 year old star, leads the diving team merriment and I think it’s brilliant.

Hold on Tight

November 24, 2011

I was sent this earlier today and I think it looks so much fun. Having done quite a few Rodelbahns in Austria (I used to live there) I cannot recommend them too highly; this looks pretty fast, specially brake-free. This is going on my To Do wish list, perhaps in some Westwood with Miu Miu shoes. Now that would be some video!
