Nailed
October 29, 2009As I’ve said before on this blog I am a massive OPI nail varnish fan. So when I was in New York I was able to stock up on some of the colours I wanted as they are much cheaper over there. I had them all in my hand luggage and was slightly concerned about the rules on liquid limits but I was prepared to argue that not only did I need all the normal items in my little plactic bag: lipsalve, small moisturiser, mascara ect but also another bag for all my nail varnishes was a must too. Luckily that problem didn’t arise and now I’m slowly trying them all out. I did think about painting one nail each colour but as it’s no longer the 80’s I felt probably not the most stylish way to go. But so far the nail varnish below is my favourite. It’s Pamplona Purple from the Coleccion De Espana and it delivers a lot of colour and manages to be smart and bright at the same time.
Old School Gisele
October 26, 2009From 1999, she’s quite a model.
Karen Karam
October 22, 2009I worked on a look book for the designer Karen Karam, check out the link and see the pictures. (The website does have music so beware). We had this great model called Sophie D at Storm. She was so young, from Canada and her dad dropped her off and picked her up from the shoot. She was lovely and had such a great look for these pieces.
Pimp My Ride NYC
October 20, 2009I had just had breakfast in Balthazar in New York and I came outside to find these car parked opposite. It was for a decorated car festival…I kid you not! But I did get some good photos from them.

October 20, 2009New York III
October 19, 2009New York is definitely a camera made city and although I got back last night I’m going to post some more of photos.
More New York
October 15, 2009It’s actually pouring with rain today but here is a selection from yesterday. My footwear is so not ideal for the weather – royal blue suede boots! Coming home through the commuters was insane, so many umbrellas and rivers of water on the streets.
New York Continued
October 15, 2009As I said in my last post I am in New York for a week. It was beautiful weather today but cold; I have been here in -15 but still wasn’t expecting to be so chilly in October. I’ve luckily got lots of layers to keep me warm but I have had to buy a hat. I was up in Central Park today for a walk in the sun as it’s supposed to rain for the next two days. I walked 28 blocks down Lexington and had a delicious chocolate souffle with green tea as a pit-stop. My hotel has free drinks from 5.30-7, which helps the evening along nicely. I’ve just been out for supper and had the most amazing chickpeas, steamed then baked in the oven with paprika, salt, pepper and lemon…incredible! It’s called ceci arrostiti and I have to find the recipe so I can try and recreate it at home!
One of my favourite things about New York is the brunch scene – it has to be one of my favourite meals. You can have eggs, fruit, coffee, bellinis, pancakes, porridge, granola, pastries, brioche, french toast, hash browns…. the variations are endless and each place does them differently with a specific twist, which I love. Enough about food. I am also shopping, although not finding as much as I’d like; why is the colour scheme for this season so grey?! I went into J Crew to see if I could channel some Michelle Obama but I found the selection a little limited and as always for me I wanted some more pattern. I’m also trying to find a pair of perfect black patent boots….the search continues tomorrow on West Broadway!
