March 22, 2013

Here are some behind the scenes photos from the shoot I posted on earlier this week. Great team, great shoot.

Sharing the Future

March 19, 2013

I worked on this editorial back in January and it has now gone to print in Numero China. It is titled ‘2 future 4 u’ and was shot by Stefan Khoo and styled by the lovely Jason Leung. The hair was done by Cher Savery, who is a top hair stylist and drives around London in an amazing vintage car.  (She also just gave me the coolest hair cut, as I was a hair model for her at a teaching day.) We had two great girls for this and it was a good two day shoot with lots of prep and lots of returns! We were in a very cool space because the studio had been converted from a nightclub so for once there were lots of loos which they hadn’t replaced when they refurbished it, and they had also left the sound system plugged in, so we raved all day to various people’s iPods.

Editorial

November 27, 2012

I apologise for the lack of posts in the recent week or so, I have had a very busy week of work and other pesky ‘life’ commitments! The winter edition of T Magazine took Karlie Kloss to Nicaragua to shoot a pretty amazing editorial. Photographed by Ryan McGinley, these shots have a lovely natural ‘innocent abroad’ feel, despite featuring grand sweeps of landscape. The second pose of Karlie in the sea is reminiscent of  Botticelli’s Venus if I know my Italian Renaissance art! My only complaint is that her hand looks huge on the horse’s neck but that’s nit- picking, I’m aware. Also it’s a clever move to pass this off as a fashion shoot when the clothes really take a back step to all those elemental images of rock, sea, fire, flora and fauna. I don’t think you’re buying the clothes in this spread so much as packing your suitcase for a holiday of a lifetime.

Editorial

November 5, 2012

This editorial is from a Russian magazine called Stolnick…nope, me neither, with photography by Igor Oussenko. It is feeling pretty wintery now in London and I find myself thinking of Christmas, and skiing, and mulled win. This shoot certainly takes blizzard conditions to another level and I can’t remember having seen an editorial this snowy. I love the way the black and white monochrome tone just tips into accents of colour. There’s a Japanese print feel to this, with the spots of snow and shards of ice adding movement and texture.

China Calling

October 29, 2012

I worked on this editorial for Numero Homme China on one of the few boiling hot and beautiful days this summer. I assisted the stylist Jason Leung, the photographer was Stefan Khoo, hair by Cher Savery and make-up by Philippe Miletto. We had three male models, including Burberry’s Thomas Penfound, and it was shot over two days in a studio is north London. The best thing about shooting men’s wear is that hair and make-up don’t take forever and so you get lots of time to shoot and try out different options. I think this editorial looks great.

Editorial

October 23, 2012

These photos comes from Marie Claire US October, shot by Enrique Badulescu. Stylist Romina Herrara Malatesta has referenced Mexico’s Day of the Dead for this and I love how this theme runs strongly through the images. Sultry and sensual with a great sense of atmosphere reinforced by the repetition of lush blues and oranges, it’s  a beauty story with the power of an editorial.

Editorial

August 24, 2012

This shoot is taken from Flare magazine’s September edition and is shot by Chris Nicholls. It is a high concept shoot, with the interplay between a sci-fi futuristic mood and the formal baroque background creating great drama. There is so much to look at and be inspired by here, with the fashion, the accessories, makeup and McQueen inspired hair all playing their part. It’s Blade Runner vs Madame de Pompadour. This kind of up-lighting can be incredibly hot and I can imagine how uncomfortable the models must have been, especially in those stiff and layered clothes. So much suffering for so much art.

Editorial

August 8, 2012

This editorial is from the August issue of L’Officiel Paris. The photographer is Alexander Neumann with model Ieva Laguna and styling by Vanessa Bellugeon. I’m not a fur fan and totally believe that only fake fur should be used at all times but I think the Mongolian boho vibe  in this editorial featuring Fendi’s a/w 2012 coats looks great. And I love the Heidi goes Cossack hair with the nude face.

Thames Star

August 1, 2012

I have been updating my portfolio and work files recently and came across this shoot I did with Gemma Arterton for Nylon, which I haven’t posted before.  It was on a houseboat on the Thames in central London, with another boat beside it as the wardrobe and make-up area. It was shot by Julian Marshall and styled by Karen Clarkson. No one got sea sick as far as I can remember and it was a very cool location to shoot an editorial.

Women’s vs Men’s Grooming

July 25, 2012

These two make up lay outs were taken from two separate shoots I’ve been working on recently. Can you guess which belongs to the male model shoot and which the female?
